ABOUT THE PROJECT
Description
Casa Amapola emerges as a celebration of authentic Mediterranean living, where the traditional soul of a finca is refined through a modern architectural lens. The project emphasizes a deep integration with the Ibicencan landscape, creating a residence that feels carved from its environment. By stripping away non-essential layers, the design reveals a sequence of luminous, interconnected spaces that promote a slower, more intentional pace of life.
Challenges
The existing property was characterized by architectural “noise,” with a fragmented interior layout and decorative elements that obscured its structural honesty. Heavy masonry and traditional dark-wood enclosures limited the dialogue between the home and its botanical surroundings. The primary challenge was to modernize the dwelling without losing its rustic warmth, requiring a delicate balance between preserving the vernacular identity and introducing contemporary spatial fluidity

SOLUTIONS
The architectural intervention centered on “opening” the house toward the garden and forest through the installation of timber windows. We established a new sense of verticality by preserving and restoring traditional beamed ceilings, which contrast with
the clean, white-washed volumes. The landscape was re-sculpted using local stone and drought-resistant flora to anchor the house firmly to its Mediterranean site.
